Winter Supplies Distribution in Surkhrod district of Nangarhar Province

January 15, 2017

The Lamia Afghan Foundation (LAF) volunteers distributed winter supplies to 270 families in Adam khel village of Surkhrod district of Nangarhar Provinces on January 15, 2017. This village is 65 km to the west of Jalalabad city. These families are repatriates from Pakistan. The government of Afghanistan and International Organizations working with refugees and IDPs are not able to support the huge flow of refugees from Pakistan these days.

After knowing the living condition of the returnees, the LAF volunteers, moved some winter supplies in close coordination with the local village leaders. According to the villagers most parts of the village are insecure.  It was also found that there are many families among the returnees who have received money from brick making factories owners in advance to settle their families. In order to repay the loan, the women, children and man of the families work in the brick making factories.

The LAF volunteers also distributed winter supplies to refugees settled near Surkhrod bridge on Kabul Road.
