AFGHAN
FOUNDATION

ABOUT US
The Lamia Afghan Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit charity that is dedicated to providing humanitarian aid to the children and families of Afghanistan.  Through tax-deductible monetary and physical donations, children in this war-torn country are being provided necessities as basic as winter shoes and jackets, baby formula, educational supplies, and other items that are typically taken for granted in much of the western world.
As implied by our mission statement, we understand that the future of any country lies in its youth.  It is our goal to provide hope to the youth of Afghanistan, and to improve their circumstances as much as possible.  Because of the remoteness of many of the villages in Afghanistan, these youth are rarely seen, and often live in extremely poor conditions.  As a result of decades of conflict, many of them have lost one or both of their parents, and some have lost limbs through encounters with one of the 12 million+ land mines still buried throughout this country.   The orphans must rely on the limited resources of others to survive, and girls in this region are particularly vulnerable due to their status in this culture.
We are also dedicated to empowering Afghan families, the orphans and their caretakers to improve their own circumstances by providing tools and resources, including items like sewing machines, building tools, and micro loans.  The pictures throughout our web site are from previous aid distributions by volunteers.  Each one has a story that would melt any heart!
We are a grass-roots all volunteer foundation that relies on the support of individuals and other organizations throughout the world.  Donations are collected through drives, on-line donations, checks, and shipped goods (please see our donation guidelines section for details).
